God Story
Modern-day Saul, turned Paul

Abdu is a young Middle Eastern man whose father belongs to a fundamentalist Muslim organisation that operates across his country and Abdu was very active in the group at a very early age.

This group would regularly attack Christian churches and ask Abdu to commit violence against Christians. They said that he would not be imprisoned, because he was underage and that he would please God.

Eventually Abdu and his colleagues did end up in prison, where he served six months for his crimes. In prison, he studied the Qur’an and discovered many verses urging Muslims to kill other people. This didn’t seem right to him and he started to question his beliefs. Abdu wondered if other religions also urge their followers to kill people.

Seek and you will find

After his release he searched online to see what other religions say about the true God. Abdu discovered Arab World Media‘s Arabic website and called them. He wanted to meet them face to face. At the first meeting Abdu said that he had left Islam and didn’t want to go back. The gospel was explained to him and he cried a lot while they prayed with him.

From persecutor to evangelist

Later, he called again and said that he had decided to put his trust in Jesus: ‘I’m a new person now. I have the joy of God in my heart!’ He said that he was going to find his former fellow-prisoners to tell each one of them about Christ. He has been doing this ever since.

He regularly visits with people from the online ministry and at times he brings along friends from his time in prison. He has even brought one of his former leaders.

Pray that this young man, with such a zeal for the gospel, will continue to grow in his faith and that he will have the opportunity to bring many unbelievers to Christ.

Praise God that this enemy of Christians, a modern-day ‘Saul’, has become our brother in Christ!
