The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam that all Muslims are required to complete as far as they are able. It is a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, performed by Muslims from all over the world who are able to undertake it. The city of Mecca is the most important city in Islam. It is the place where the Hajj is performed and the place that Muslims pray towards when performing their daily prayers.
Forgiveness of sin
The main purpose of the Hajj is to receive forgiveness of sins, so Muslims go on the Hajj to be cleansed of sin. Believers in Jesus Christ know that only He can forgive our sins, because He paid the penalty for our sins by His sinless life, His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. By putting our faith in Him, we are made right with God.
…a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ… (Galatians 2:16).
And so, we pray
Let us pray for Muslims on the Hajj this year to encounter Jesus and receive forgiveness for their sins that only He can give. Our prayers are powerful and able to pull down this stronghold that keeps Muslims captive.
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:3-4).
