25 November 2025 – The month of November marks special prayers for the Persecuted Church worldwide. Across the world, countless brothers and sisters in Christ are facing hostility for no other reason than their faith in the Lord Jesus. From the tightly controlled provinces of China to the conflict-torn villages of Mozambique, Sudan and Nigeria, the Body of Christ is suffering in ways that often remain unseen by the global Church. Yet Scripture reminds us that “if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26).
We focus on four nations prominent in the news right now. As we lift them before the Lord, we stand in love, strengthen their hands and join God’s purposes for His Persecuted Church.
Let us lift them up in prayer
The prayer points below are offered as a guide, but spend time in God’s presence and listen for the Holy Spirit’s prayer prompting for each country. He knows exactly what is needed and what is on the Father’s heart for His suffering people in every nation.
China
The Open Doors International 2025 dossier indicates that persecution of Christians in China is intensifying, driven especially by state policy of forcing religious groups to conform to Communist Party ideology. According to Global Christian Relief, house-churches (those outside the state-sanctioned system) face pressure, detention of leaders, restrictions on children’s religious education and overseas links. Pray
- Pray for the protection and perseverance of Christians in China as they face heavy state control, surveillance and pressure to conform to government ideology.
- Pray for underground churches to remain secure from being exposed through infiltration, and to keep growing in number as new believers are added.
Mozambique
The north of Mozambique, especially the Cabo Delgado province, is experiencing brutal violence from Islamist extremist groups (affiliated with the Islamic State) which are targeting Christian communities, churches, pastors and villages. A proposed law in October 2025 would further regulate formation and registration of religious groups, raising concerns among Christian organisations that it may amplify persecution or discrimination. Pray
- Pray for protection, courage and stability for Christians in Mozambique who are trapped in conflict-zones and exposed to violent extremist attacks.
- Pray for churches and families affected by abductions, destruction and displacement to experience God’s provision, as well as His supernatural healing and restoration.
Sudan
According to Open Doors, Sudan had been making some progress toward religious freedom, but a coup and subsequent conflict reversed much of that. Christian communities are again in danger. Conflict analysts (e.g. Genocide Watch) indicate that Christian minorities in regions such as Darfur are especially vulnerable, with persecution, displacement and violence rising. Read more.
Pray
- Pray for the protection of Christians in Sudan who are suffering through war, displacement and the collapse of legal forms of protection and safeguards.
- Pray for minority Christian communities in high-risk regions to be preserved, supported and encouraged, with access to safety, provision of basic needs like food and water, and Christian fellowship.
Nigeria
Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians. According to Open Doors, jihadist violence (e.g. from Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province and Fulani militias) is increasingly widespread and Christians are targeted for killing, kidnapping, sexual violence and the destruction of property. One report noted that at least 85 Christians were killed in one week in Nigeria’s Middle Belt (June 2025). This is an ongoing trend right now. Pray
- Pray for Christians in Nigeria who face violent attacks, kidnappings and ongoing militant threats across many regions. Give thanks for the international focus on these violent killings at the moment. Ask for swift action that will halt these attacks.
- Pray for peace, justice and effective intervention where authorities have failed, and for believers to remain steadfast, united and strengthened in the midst of danger.
