Pray for a school

It is important for parents to pray for the schools their children attend, and for pupils also to pray for their schools. However, it is just as vital for churches and prayer groups to add schools to their prayer responsibility.

You can use the following guidelines to pray in a meaningful way for the school that God wants you to pray for.

Love. Father, may everyone in the school experience Your love in a special way through the Christians they know (John 13:35).

Truth. Lord, pour out Your truth in the school. Help learners to discern the truth and not to believe any false teachings (Proverbs 23:23).

School Board. Lord, I pray Your blessings upon each member of the School’s Board [pray for them by name]. Father, may Your will be done at the School’s Board meetings (Romans 13:1).

Principal. Lord, I pray for the principal, that he/she will recognise the responsibility You have given him/her. May ____________________[name of the principal] walk in wisdom, integrity, grace and truth, and may he/she act in the best interests of the learners at the school (Proverbs 2:1-11).

Teachers who are not yet believers. Father, I pray for the salvation of all the teachers in the school (Romans 5:8). Please arrange Divine appointments for them that they may encounter You and Your Word.

Rejected and/or struggling learners. Lord, please comfort learners who feel rejected by their peers or teachers. Place people in their lives who will love them unconditionally (Isaiah 1:17). Lord, please encourage learners who are struggling, and show their teachers and parents how to help them (1 Thessalonians 5:14). Father, I ask for more Mathematics and Science teachers, who are able to convey difficult concepts in simple ways to learners.

Children of divorced parents; abused and/or neglected children. Father, please heal children in this school, whose hearts have been ravaged by divorce, abandonment, abuse or neglect. Protect them from physical harm and heal their hearts (James 1:27).
