In 2026, the Inthar people of Myanmar experienced the joy of having the complete oral New Testament available in their heart language for the first time. Now, God is using His Word to reach hearts among the Inthar.
Daw Than, a 67-year-old Inthar woman, was travelling to a Spoken Oral Discipleship training workshop when she was involved in a serious traffic accident. She suffered critical injuries to her head and legs.
In the fear and uncertainty that followed, one Bible story stayed with her: Luke 7:11–17, where Jesus sees a grieving widow and raises her only son. As Daw Than recovered, she began to see her own experience through the story. She recognised the compassion of Jesus – and saw God’s mercy in her own life.
God’s compassion
“I have listened to many Bible stories and the one story that deeply encouraged me was Luke 7:11–17, where Jesus had compassion on the widow and raised her only son back to life. In the same way, I experienced God’s compassion in my own life. Given my age and the severity of my injuries, I believe I would not have survived if God had not shown me mercy. Now I have recovered greatly, and I thank God with all my heart.”
What a beautiful picture of why access to Scripture matters.
