God Story
An Egyptian scholar seeks truth

Omar was a scholar of Islamic law, trained to defend his faith and expose what he saw as weaknesses in the Bible and Christian doctrine. But over time, he began to see problems in Islam and to question what he’d put his faith in all his life. Then, he watched Mel Gibson’s film The Passion of the Christ.

“As I saw what happened to Jesus, I couldn’t stop myself from crying. His suffering touched something deep inside my heart.”

He quietly decided to learn more about Christianity, this time from Christian sources. That’s how he found the Arab World Media website.

“Step by step, my understanding grew, and my heart was opened. I came to the conviction that Jesus Christ is truly the Lord and the Saviour. In August 2025, I put my faith in Him.”

Omar continues to grow and has fellowship with other believers. He asks us to pray that the Lord would give him wisdom and grace as he shares his faith in Christ with his closest friends and family. Omar is likely to face significant persecution. There is a real danger that his faith will flounder if he rushes this journey, moving too quickly from being a Muslim preacher to being a Christian preacher. May the Lord instead guide him into a deep, rooted and authentic life of faith.
