20 Bible promises to pray

The Bible gives many promises to all believers. Here are 20 of those promises that you can pray.

1. God renews your strength

Promise: Whenever you feel weak in your walk with God, He strengthens you.
Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 – But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Pray: Father, teach me to wait on You until I experience renewal of strength, until I mount up with wings like an eagle, so that I can run and not be weary, walk and not become tired.

2. God gives rest

Promise: The way of Jesus is a light yoke, because it is His yoke.
Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30 – Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Pray: Lord Jesus, I come to you. Give me rest from my labour and heavy burdens. I take Your yoke upon me and want to learn from You. Teach me gentleness and lowliness of heart. Give me rest for my soul.

3. God’s love never fails

Promise: God is love and cannot but love everything He has created.
Scripture: 1 John 4:16 – And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Pray: Father, I pray to have a deeper understanding of, and faith in, the love You have for me. I believe that You are love and that if I abide in love, I abide in You and You in me.

4. God has redeemed you

Promise: God is so pure, holy and righteous, that nothing sinful can come close to God without being destroyed. For this reason Jesus came to redeem us, so we can again come close to God our Father.
Scripture: Colossians 1:13-14 – He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Pray: Thank you Father, for giving Jesus in my place to deliver me from the power of darkness. Thank you that I can now be part of Your kingdom and have redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of my sins.

5. God has adopted you

Promise: Despite your experience of an earthly father, our Heavenly Father is incomparable. Jesus went to the cross to bring us all back into our Father’s house. (Romans 8:15).
Scripture: Ephesians 1:5 – having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will
Pray: Heavenly Father, I praise You for making me Your son/daughter through the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you for Your will and pleasure to welcome me into Your house.

6. God will fight on your behalf

Promise: When our enemies come in like a flood, our God is quick to deliver us.
Scripture: Exodus 14:13-14 – And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Pray: Father of mercy, help me not to be afraid, but to face everything in my life with the assurance that You will accomplish a breakthrough on my behalf. I will trust in You and hold my peace, as You fight on my behalf.

7. God gives wisdom to those who ask

Promise: When we seek God’s face with a sincere heart, He answers and guides us.
Scripture: James 1:5-6 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
Pray: Father God, I ask for Your wisdom in everything I do every day. Help me to believe that You will guide me, and will deliver me from doubt and being tossed by everything I see in the natural.

8. The devil will flee from those who draw near to God

Promise: Those who draw near to God will have power over the devil.
Scripture: James 4:7-8 – Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Submit to God. Give him your life and be about his will. As you follow him, you can count on opposition from Satan. Learn to resist the devil, and he will flee. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Pray: Father God, I submit and draw near to You. Purify my heart, cleanse my hands and grant me single-mindedness. Teach me how to resist the devil so he will flee. I give You my life to do Your will.

9. God forgives confessed sins

Promise: Honesty before God brings deliverance from sin. When you are convicted and confess your sin before God, believe that you are cleansed from that sin and forgiven by God.
Scripture: 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Pray: Father, I open my heart and admit to every wrongdoing in my life. Show me every hidden sin so I may lay it at Your feet. Thank you that you are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

10. God forgives as we forgive others

Promise: Once we practically experience God’s forgiveness for our own sin, we better understand that holding unforgiveness in our hearts is wrong.
Scripture: Luke 6:37 – Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.  John 20:23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”  Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Pray: Father, grant me grace not to judge or condemn, so I will not be judged and condemned. Help me to forgive everyone who has sinned against me, just as unconditionally as You have forgiven me.

11. God exalts the humble

Promise: Fixing your eyes on God and His glory will keep your own unsanctified self in proper perspective.
Scripture: Matthew 23:12 – And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Pray: Father, as an act of my will I submit my heart, mind and soul before You. I choose to glorify Your holy name in everything I do. Exalt Yourself in and through my life.

12. God will never forsake you

Promise: God does not promise a challenge-free life, but He does promise to be with us amid trouble.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Pray: Father, I put my trust in You. Strengthen me with good courage and to fear nothing or nobody, but You alone. I declare that You are the One who goes with me, the One who will never leave or forsake me in all my ways.

13.  God has given us eternal life

Promise: We were created to live forever. When we die, it will either be to continue in eternal life or to continue in eternal death. If you don’t choose life during your life on earth, your choice automatically reverts you to eternal death.
Scripture: John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Pray: Father, I praise You for eternal Life in and through Jesus Christ! I thank you for giving Your only begotten Son. We I thank you that through something as simple as faith, I can have everlasting life.

14. God’s freedom is complete

Promise: When we believe in Christ, our freedom is complete. Through faith in Jesus we are free of unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, rage, lust and pride forever. In the flesh, we may still experience temptation, but He sets every sinner free.
Scripture: John 8:36 – Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Pray: Thank you Heavenly Father for helping me to believe in the Cross of Jesus Christ. Thank you for making me free. Free indeed.

15. God answers the prayer of faith

Promise: Jesus explained that answered prayer is possible when we pray in his name (John 14:13), according to his will (1 John 5:14) and in faith (Luke 17:6).
Scripture: Mark 11:24 – Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Pray: Holy Spirit, teach me to pray according to God’s will, with faith and in Jesus’ name.

16. God’s supply is sufficient

Promise: Jesus’ disciples saw many provisional miracles. God even cares about birds and flowers. (Matthew 6:26). He is more than enough in every situation.
Scripture: Philippians 4:19 – And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Pray: Father, I thank you that Your faithfulness is over all that You have created. I trust You to supply in my every need – not according to my wants, but according to Your riches in glory in and through Jesus Christ.

17. God delivers from trouble

Promise: God delights in delivering us from our enemies so His name can be glorified. Never believe anything less.
Scripture: Psalm 50:15 – Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
Pray: Father You delight yourself in delivering me from every kind trouble daily, from every calamity and danger. I glorify Your holy name, for Your lovingkindness is better than life.

18. God delights in those who delight in Him

Promise: As we delight ourselves to be a delight to our God and enjoy Him in all we do, He puts His desires in our hearts and He delights in giving us those desires.
Scripture: Psalm 37:4-5 – Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
Pray: Father, today I delight myself in Your goodness and mercy towards me! I commit all my ways to You; I choose to trust that You will bring to pass every desire You have put in my heart!

19. Jesus is preparing a place for us

Promise: The Father’s house has many rooms and there is a place prepared for us in heaven (John 14:3). No amount of hardship or suffering now, will ever compare to us being co-heirs with Christ, receiving an inheritance in heaven in him for eternity.
Scripture: John 14:3 – And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Romans 8:16-17 –  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirsheirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for granting me access to Your house through Jesus Christ. Thank you for making me a child of God, a joint heir with Jesus. Though I suffer now, I will partake in His eternal glory!

20. Jesus is coming again

Promise: We often live as if Jesus will never return. But the promise of resurrection is exactly that – He is coming back.
Scripture: Revelation 22:12 – And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to
veryone according to his work.
Pray: Father, I praise you for the quick return of the Lord Jesus to this earth. Thank you for the reward He is bringing with Him. Teach me to do good works for Your glory.
