The health sector has such a vital role in society. Hospitals, in particular, need to be equipped and able to treat sick and hurting patients. Let us regularly pray for our local, provincial and academic hospitals, their staff and for patients according to the following guidelines:
1. Dept. of Health and hospital management
For leaders to be true servants of the people as Jesus was (Mat. 20:25-28) and that they will pray for, and receive wisdom from God. (James 1:5)
2. Academic and medical staff
To trust the Lord with all their heart and not to lean on their own understanding. (Pro. 3:5) To know and to acknowledge God as our Healer. (Ps. 30 v 2)
3. Nursing staff
To have the brotherly love of Christ and to be hospitable, because thereby some have entertained angels unawares. (Heb. 13:1-2)
4. Patients, families and friends
To call upon Jesus because He wants to Heal. (Mat. 8:3) To be comforted by the God of all comfort and mercies. ( 2 Cor 1:3-14)
5. Counsellors and volunteers
To have a Spirit of meekness and to consider themselves while bearing one another’s burdens. (Gal. 6:1-2 ) To bring comfort by the Holy Spirit – The Great Comforter. (Joh. 14:26)
6. Facilities and equipment
For all staff to be faithful in which is considered seemingly mundane, in order to become faithful in much. (Luke 16:10) For staff to be vigilant over resources. (Pro. 27:23)
7. Training and education
For teachings to be based on the fear of the Lord, as it is the beginning of all knowledge. (Pro. 1:7). For the increase of wisdom and insight. (Pro. 9:9)
8. Support and service providers
To be skilful in their work, for then they will stand before Kings.(Pro. 22:29) To do all whatsoever they do heartily as to the Lord and not unto men. (Col 3:23)
9. Finances and accountability
For planning and successful execution of financial plans. (Luke 14:28-30) For diligence in paying workers. (Lev. 19:13) and good financial reputation (Pro. 22:3) For Honest transactions. (Deut 25:13-15)
10. Security
For hospital staff, patients and visitors to fear the Lord so His Angel can encamp, rescue and deliver them. (Ps. 34:7)
