Prayer for Missions in 10/40 Window during Ramadan

Prayer focusing on missions and closed countries
Every year, Muslims have their time of fasting and prayer called Ramadan. Various prayer teams from all over the world will enter the 10/40 Window to pray for breakthroughs for the gospel and the persecuted church. Let us at home focus on praying for the protection of the teams entering the 10/40 Window, for the protection of the missionaries receiving them in such large numbers, as well as for breakthroughs for the gospel in these closed countries of the world.

Pray for all mission work and evangelisation
A lack of prayer support is one of the reasons why mission organisations make so little progress in many cases. Large expenditure is incurred to arrange evangelisation campaigns and a lot of time and energy is spent on preparations – often with a small number of people surrendering their lives to Christ. A lack of sufficient effective prayer is a large part of the reason why they struggle.

Pray for the 10/40 Window
Since the early 1990’s the concept 10/40 Window has become a common term among Christians who are taking the Great Commission of Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 seriously. The 10/40 Window is an imaginary window between 10 and 40 degrees north latitude from West Africa across the Middle East and Asia to the east coast of Japan. Within this imaginary window there are 62 countries. Of the 6000 groups world-wide that have not been reached by the gospel, more than 97% fall in the 10/40 Window. More than 80% of the World’s poorest people live in this belt and the main headquarters of the World’s greatest non-Christian religions (Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.) are all situated within this Window.

Prayer pointers:
• Pray for God’s protection and favour upon the teams preparing to enter the 10/40 Window during the month of Ramadan.
• Pray for the necessary preparations of the missionaries receiving these prayer teams in closed countries. Ask for protection from suspicion of authorities and that no harm will come to their work in these countries.
• Pray for the breaking of demonic strongholds in this region.
• Pray for more permanent workers.
• Pray for open doors in closed countries and remote areas in the 10/40 Window.
