Mobilising, training and equipping Christians for prayer

This is the 2nd article in our 8-part series entitled, Bless Your Nation. In this series of blessing our nations, we focus on a different area of society to be blessed in each article. Read each article carefully and pray the blessings over your nation in faith.

Christians everywhere must take responsibility for their own nation, believing that God can and will change the hearts of citizens in their nation.  Our first task as believers is to ask God to change our own hearts from a negative perspective of our nation to a faith perspective and to trust that He wants to use us to bring about change in our nation. If you have not yet read the first article in this series, we suggest you do so before continuing.

Day 1. BLESS THE NATION

Daily blessing 1: In the name of Jesus Christ I bless the nation of _____________ and the people living in it: The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26).

Daily blessing 2: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:3-12).

Daily blessing 3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. (Ephesians 1:3-4).

Day 2. CHURCH

Blessing on the church: In the name of Jesus Christ I bless the church in _____________: May we be filled with the Spirit, sanctified by truth through the Word of God. May we humble ourselves, pray and seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways. May we be filled with wisdom and spiritual understanding, walk worthy of our Lord Jesus Christ, bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit and increase in the knowledge of God. May we be salt and light in our communities and obey the command to go out into the whole world and share the gospel of the kingdom of Jesus Christ with all nations.

Prayer-walk: Pray for your own congregation.

Day 3. CHURCH

Focus your blessing on: Pastors, ministers, reverends, priests, prophets, apostles, evangelists, missionaries, spiritual leaders, elders, deacons, members of the body of Christ, etc.
Pray: Ephesians 1:17-22.
Prayer-walk: Other churches in your area.

Day 4. OTHER RELIGIONS

Blessing on other religions: I bless all people in ______________ that do not belong to any religion. I pray that they may desire to know the one true God, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. I bless adherents of other religions. May their eyes be opened, and may they turn from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, to receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ. May they know the love of God as Father, the grace and truth that comes through Jesus Christ, and the power of healing and deliverance of the Holy Spirit. I bless our enemies, I bless those who curse us, I bless those who hate us, I bless those who spitefully use and persecute us. Bless ______________, o Lord God!

Prayer-walk: Mosques, synagogues.

Day 5. OTHER RELIGIONS

Intercede for the salvation of Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, New-Agers, Freemasons, Sangomas, leaders of cults and the occults, nominal Christians, etc.

Pray these scriptures: And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us… (Acts 17:26-27). …To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. (Acts 26:18). Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11).

Prayer-walk: Masonic lodges, sacred sites and monuments of African traditional religions.

Day 6. CHURCH

Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit for workers to be sent out as missionaries and evangelists for ______________ to fulfil its prophetic destiny. Pray this Scripture over them: …That He would grant them, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith; that they, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that they may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen (Ephesians 3:16-21).
Prayer-walk/drive: Churches of different denominations, Christian ministries, Theological Seminaries, mission stations, etc.

Day 7. CHURCH

Bless the church today with the words of Jesus’ High Priestly prayer, found in John 17:1-26: Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son…as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Father, may we have the joy of Jesus fulfilled in us. He has given us Your word and the world hates us. I do not pray that You should take us out of the world, but that You should keep us from the evil one. Sanctify the church in ______________ by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Jesus into the world, He also has sent us into the world. And for our sakes He sanctified Himself, that we also may be sanctified by the truth. Jesus prayed that we all may be one, as You, Father, are in Jesus, and He in You; that we also may be one in You, that the world may believe that You sent Jesus.

And Father, the glory which You gave Jesus, He has given to us, that we may be one just as You and Jesus are one: Jesus in us, and You in Jesus; that we may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Jesus, and have loved us as You have loved Jesus.

Father, please hear the desire from the heart of your Son, Jesus Christ, and answer His prayer: “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”

O righteous Father! The world does not know You, but Jesus knows You; and we know that You sent Jesus. He declared to us Your name, and will continue to declare it, that the love with which You loved Jesus, may be in the Church in ______________, and Jesus in all believers. Amen.
