Mobilising, training and equipping Christians for prayer

Over the last 3 decades, we have seen an astonishing prayer-awakening for Muslims around the world.

Two major initiatives “kick-started” it. The first one was the 30 Days of Prayer that began in 1992 when Christians around the world emphasized prayer for Muslims during the 30 Days of Ramadan every year. The second initiative was Praying Through the Window I, II, III, IV (1993, 1995, 1997, 1999). Millions of people were mobilised to pray during the 31 Days of October every year. (The so-called “10/40 Window” is a block of 65 countries in the northern hemisphere stretching from West Africa to Japan. 80% of the poorest people and more than 90% of the most unreached people groups in the world live there.)

Both these initiatives are continuing, and many congregations and prayer groups worldwide pray for the salvation of Muslims.

The unprecedented move of God among the Muslims has many reasons, but missiologists and Christians workers on the field, agree that prayer is the main reason – if not the most important – for these spiritual breakthroughs.

It is therefore important that we mobilise more prayer for the Muslim world.

Would you please consider starting a prayer group of at least 3-4 (or more) people to pray together on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, for God’s intervention in the Muslim world.

Pray that more individuals and prayer groups will take spiritual responsibility to pray for the salvation of Muslims and for the church to reach out to suffering communities in nations like Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, etc.
