Mobilising, training and equipping Christians for prayer

Let us show our love for Muslims by praying for them!

16 May – 14 June

Ramadan is an annual Muslim observance period of 30 days. During this time Muslims fast, perform certain religious duties and do personal reflection. For Muslims it is a period of increased spiritual awareness.  As Christians we desire for all Muslims to come into a relationship with God as their Father, who has shown His love for them through the sacrificial work of our Lord Jesus on the cross. Use the focus areas and prayer points that will be provided daily on this page during Ramadan. These prayer points will also be available in our Jericho Walls Prayer App so that you can receive them daily on your mobile phone. You can also download the entire Jericho Walls Ramadan 2018 Prayer booklet in English. Day 7: Brunei
22 May

If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. (John 14:14).
In Brunei (located on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia), government and religion are intermingled. Though only 65% of Bruneians are Muslim, it is illegal to proselytise, and Muslims are forbidden to convert from Islam. These restrictions greatly hinder missionary attempts to establish new Christian communities. Though Christianity is second to Islam, representing 11% of the population, it is not recognised. The church in Brunei is in dire need of bold Spirit-filled leaders, who can rightly teach the Word of Truth and lead Christian communities with sound doctrine.

  • That the Lord would strengthen and unite Bruneian Christians as they live in a nation that strongly opposes them, being continually shod with the armour of God.
  • For the salvation of the royal family, and that they would lead their nation to righteousness.
  • For a creative and bold witness to the Muslim majority.
  • For spiritual maturity and biblical training for laypersons who lead the underground Church.

Prayer for the Muslim world

This is a prayer prayed in 1923 by Samuel M. Zwemer (1867-1952), a graduate of Hope College, a professor at Princeton and “The Apostle to Islam.”

Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who has made of one blood all nations and has promised that many shall come from the East and sit down with Abraham in your kingdom: We pray for your prodigal children in Muslim lands who are still afar off, that they may be brought nigh by the blood of Christ. Look upon them in pity, because they are ignorant of your truth.

Take away pride of intellect and blindness of heart, and reveal to them the surpassing beauty and power of your Son, Jesus Christ. Convince them of their sin in rejecting the atonement of the only Saviour. Give moral courage to those who love you, that they may boldly confess your name.
Hasten the day of religious freedom in Turkey, Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and North Africa. Send forth reapers where the harvest is ripe, and faithful plowmen to break furrows in lands still neglected. May the tribes of Africa and Malaysia not fall prey to Islam but be won for Christ. Bless the ministry of healing in every hospital, and the ministry of love at every church and mission. May all Muslim children in mission schools be led to Christ and accept him as their personal Saviour.
Strengthen converts, restore backsliders, and give all those who labour among Muslims the tenderness of Christ, so that bruised reeds may become pillars of his church, and smoking flaxwicks burning and shining lights. Make bare your arm, O God, and show your power. All our expectation is from you.
Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son in the Muslim world, and fulfil through Him the prayer of Abraham your friend, “O, that Ishmael might live before you.” For Jesus’ sake. Amen.

The people who walked in darkness

Have seen a great light;

Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,

Upon them a light has shined.

Isaiah 9:2
